What photo does the Thailand e-Visa need?
A recent passport-size photograph taken within the last 6 months, on a white background, uploaded as JPG or JPEG at 3 MB or less.
Why did my photo get rejected?
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs names the two big mistakes: submitting a photo cropped from your passport's data page instead of a proper photo, and inappropriate attire — photos where you are shirtless or wearing a tank top or strapless top will be rejected.
Does Thailand publish exact dimensions?
No — the requirement is passport-size without a millimetre or pixel figure, so we output the most common passport shape (35:45) and say plainly that the shape is our choice.
Does the photo affect entry?
Yes — the MFA warns that if the photograph does not reflect your current appearance, you may be refused entry into Thailand. Use a genuinely recent photo.
Is there a Thai passport line too?
No — Thai passports capture your photo and biometrics in person at the office, so there is nothing to submit. The e-Visa for foreigners is the channel where a photo is actually uploaded.
Our own assumptions
- Thailand says passport-size without publishing millimetre or pixel dimensions, so we output the most common passport shape (35:45 at 413 x 531 px) and say plainly that the shape is our choice, not an official figure.
- This line is the e-Visa for foreigners entering Thailand. Thai passports themselves have no photo-submission step — biometrics are captured in person — which is why there is no Thai passport line.
- No head-height figure is published; the 72% proportion is our choice in line with the official sample imagery.
- The chin is measured by 68-point facial landmarks; the crown comes from the top of the cut-out outline. Assumed accuracy ±5%, calibrated only on synthetic fixtures.
Where the authority does not specify something, we say so rather than pretending it does. The points above are our engineering choices, not official requirements.
